Under Articles 34 et seq. of the Portuguese Health Regulatory Authority (ERS) Statutes, approved by Decree-Law No. 126/2014 of 22 August, the Board of Directors is the collegiate body responsible for defining ERS’s strategic and operational direction. ERS's Board of Directors is composed of a Chair of the Board and two Members, appointed by Resolution of the Council of Ministers upon the proposal of the Portuguese Minister of Health.
Currently, ERS’s Board of Directors comprises three members, appointed as follows:
i) Dr. António José da Silva Pimenta Marinho, Chair of the Board, appointed by Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 20/2023, of 14 February, pursuant to Article 35 of ERS's Statutes, approved as an annex to Decree-Law No. 126/2014 of 22 August, and paragraphs 2, 3, and 6 of Article 17 of the Framework Law on Independent Regulatory Authorities (Law No. 67/2013, of 28 August).
ii) Dra. Mariana Teixeira da Mota Torres, Member of the Board, appointed by Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 128-A/2022, of 19 December, pursuant to the same statutory and legal provisions.
iii) Professor Doutor Agostinho Franklim Pinto Marques, Member of the Board, appointed by Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 20/2023, of 14 February, pursuant to the same statutory and legal provisions.
